ThermoDry Exterior

The SurfaPaint ThermoDry® Exterior is a high quality acrylic elastomeric emulsion paint with thermal insulating properties and is ideal for exterior use. It is suitable for masonry exposed to adverse weather conditions and for the protection of damaged surfaces with micro cracks. Due to its UV cross linking mechanism and the nanoparticles it contains, the tendency to pick-up dirt particles and atmospheric pollution is significantly reduced. It is available in white colour for optimum thermal insulation properties and can be used as a tinting base for light shades.

Thermal Insulating Properties

When thermal energy travels through walls and other surfaces, large amounts of energy are required for cooling in the summer or heating in the winter. SurfaPaint ThermoDry® Exterior contains special nano and micro-sized thermal insulating particles that block heat transfer, reflect thermal radiation, and create a moisture barrier that can help significantly with energy saving.

Excellent Protection

Even suitable for application on masonry exposed to adverse weather conditions (i.e very low temperature conditions (-20°C)) and for the protection of damaged surfaces with micro cracks (gap bridging) without risk of flaking.

Thermal Conductivity < 0.1 W/(mK), (EN ISO 12667:2004). The corresponding value of a conventional paint is 0.50 W/(mk).
Thermal Reflectance 94.2% Reflection in the IR region of light (700nm - 2.2μm ASTM G173).
Liquid water permeability “non-permeable” by water according to EN ISO 1062-3:2008
Fungal resistance excellent resistant against fungi & algae, Class 1 according to BS3900-G6:1989

Application Note

  1. 1) Ensure all surfaces are clean and dry prior to application.
  2. 2) Remove any dust and dirt.
  3. 3) Stir well before application. Do not dilute for bridging gaps and hairline cracks of up to 0.5 mm. For cracks bigger that 1mm, fill the gap with a suitable putty. If thinning is required add up to 10% water by volume. Application temperature should be between 8 - 35°C.
  4. 4) Apply 2-3 even coats using a good quality brush, roller or by spraying with a tip of a diameter 1.4mm or more. Do not over-brush. Ensure corners and edges are adequately covered.
  5. 5) Additional coats should be applied 4-6 hours after the previous application.

Attention: SurfaPaint ThermoDry® Exterior can be applied directly on exterior wall surfaces (masonry, concrete, plaster, drywalls), and wherever water-based, acrylic paints are applied. New substrates from cement or masonry should have cured for more than 3-4 weeks before primer application. Adverse conditions during or immediately after application may affect the coating’s properties. The paint has a spreading rate of 10-12 m2/L.

Ideal Surfaces for application

New or old surfaces like concrete, plaster, drywalls and wood.
